What’s the perfect way to bring in October? For me, it’s not Pumpkin Spice Lattes or pulling out Halloween decorations. It’s spending the first day of October with families who brighten my heart and put a smile on my face. Capturing memories through my camera lens is the best way I know how to welcome in one of my favorite months. Sure, pulling out your boots, regaling in the lower temps and all the glorious fall colors is something to rave and be excited about. But sometimes I believe we obsess more about the passing and trivial blessings rather than the lasting and monumental blessings than we should at times.
I’m so thankful that my job allows me to be constantly reminded about the importance of living each moment purposefully. When families come back to me for repeat sessions, like the Hyland and Branscum family, I’m reminded that children don’t stay little forever. I’m reminded that life moves on for everyone. Lastly, that each moment is precious, so don’t miss it. I am entrusted with stopping time in that moment and preserving it forever to capture the emotion that is sometimes so deep that it’s almost undefinable. This daunting task is overwhelming at times. But the people I meet and the memories I capture are worth every uphill climb.
But enough of the serious stuff!
Tickle fights and skipping sessions are a big part of an evening with these sweet girls. Their laughter is contagious, let me tell you.
And Papa D is wonderful at getting his girls to laugh. We raced, we played hide and seek, and we pulled silly faces. We had fun.
Arms swinging, knees pumping up and down to beat the band, Erin either marched or skipped everywhere. Peyton follows more reservedly, but that shy smile. Oh my.
The Hylands are celebrating a lot this month! From Sarah’s “Gotcha Day”, to Mr. Dennis’ retirement, to Erin’s birthday, they have a wonderful month full of celebration. Yet one more reason to love October. (As if we needed one)
On a different note, I have one more open spot left in the Sugar and Spice Mini Session at Goodwin Manor! If you haven’t heard about this special opportunity, have a seat and let’s get comfy! I’m so excited to offer your daughters (ages 11 and under) the chance to spend 20 minutes with me at Goodwin Manor, just 30 minutes outside of Conway. Goodwin Manor is a perfect spot for your daughter to feel like a princess for a day while I spend time with her getting portraits that you will cherish forever. If you are interested in this Mini Session or have any questions, head over to the Contact page and send me a message!
Still not sure if this is for you? Check out this video of Goodwin Manor. You’ll love it. I promise.
